Toshiba 32'' 32C3030D Freeview HD Ready Widescreen LCD TV

HDTV's Intro

I'm considering this television for my bedroom. I know Panasonic, Samsung and Sony Bravia are the preferred and recommended brands but considering the screen size that I want - those models go well beyond £650 and I just can't afford that. However this Toshiba is just £479.

as salamu alaikum,

looks good. heck, even the speakers might not be that bad, though if you can, i'd highly recommend getting a home theater (5.1 or above) system simply because you can't have one without the other if you know what I mean.... it's like trying to play a ps3 on a analog t.v....

Can you recommend some? And you said the audio doesn't look bad..how do you judge it? What are you mean to look for in that regard?

P.S. Do you plan to get a PS3 with the price cut? £279 on a certain website.

as salamu alaikum,

What you should be looking at is high contrast, high level of lumens (brightness), etc. However, beware that even though some TV's will have great specs on paper, when you see them in person, it's a different ballgame. So really, the BEST way to purchase a HDTV is to just go to a store and see it in person. See how it compares to the other TVs, SIDE BY SIDE. I think I recommended you the Bravia from Sony, but also definitely check out the SAMSUNG HDTVs and Sharp's Aquos series. All are fantastic.

As for the Audio, I mentioned the Toshiba's audio being good since most other HDTV's include measly 10-15 Watts, so this one including 20 Watts is a bigger boost. They definitely won't compare to a standard home theater set of speakers, but it'll be enough for you to hear something from your games.

Personally, I'd like to get a PS3, but the price is still quite high. I'm not much of a movie person anymore and I won't be making too much use of the PS3 as a movie player. The fact is, for a lot less, I can get a Xbox 360 to fill most of my gaming needs. If I had the money to buy a PS3, I'd do it but I'm so broke right now, I can't even pay attention.

As salamu alaikum
